FLOUR BLEACH

Benzoyl peroxide

What it is

A flour bleaching agent — yes, the acne molecule — that whitens flour and strengthens it faster than natural aging would. Cosmetics, on a schedule.

Why your biology objects

It works by oxidising the flour, which destroys its carotenoids and degrades vitamins E and A in the process. Banned for flour in the EU, UK, Canada and China; the US still allows it. Whiter, faster, emptier.
