FREE-FRUCTOSE SYRUP

Agave

What it is

Marketed as the gentle, low-glycemic sugar. It runs ~85% fructose — the most fructose-heavy sweetener on the shelf, higher than HFCS, with almost no glucose to escort it.

Why your biology objects

With no glucose partner, nearly all of it reaches the liver as free fructose and drives de novo lipogenesis and uric acid. The "low glycemic" selling point is the tell: fructose barely raises blood sugar precisely *because* the liver, not your tissues, is taking the hit.
